The architecture of Hanoi is characterised by the deep recesses, strong horizontal and vertical elements as well as the regular horizontal lines of window shutters used for sun control and privacy. The Hanoi Petroleum Trading Centre responds to this imagery with modern materials, details and colours.

The tower design reflects the fine horizontal louvres of the traditional Hanoi shutters. The horizontal fins provide sun control and reflect light into the office interiors, reducing heat gains and energy consumption.
