Johnson Pilton Walker has been working with the Sydney Opera House Trust to advise on future development works affecting the Sydney Opera House and its site. One of the first tasks was in establishing in collaboration with Jorn Utzon, the Design Principles that will guide future works at the Sydney Opera House.

The preparation of a Statement of Design Principles and a Strategic Building Plan is aimed at achieving two significant long-term objectives;
- To safeguard the Sydney Opera House and its site for the benefit of
future generations.
- To address the current practical limitations and the future design
needs as a performing arts centre.
