This new focus of providing working, living, recreational and natural uses of the harbour environment will create a contemporary new urban place that offers solutions for increasingly dense urban environment.
East Darling Harbour will establish a new urban ecology that supports the integration of nature with human activity as a development that improves the total quality of life, both now and in the future.
The urban design concept for East Darling Harbour has been influenced by the following;
- reinforcing the image of a green headland
- reconnecting the ground level to the city
- building massing that relates to the CBD form
- preserving the views from Observatory Hill
- environmental heritage & maritime history
