363 George Street Development
Sydney, Australia |
The development consists of a 35 storey 40,000m2 commercial office building elevated above the exiting historic building. The refined proportions of the tower provides an elegant silhouette with the city skyline. It has column free floor plans, a ‘clean” core, excellent natural light and outlook to all floors to command premium leasing interest.
Beyond the sandstone clad colonnade to George Street, selective demolition has created generous civic spaces containing and exquisitely detailed 12m high glass box loggia and a specially commissioned water swing sculpture. The raise tower allows for the penetration of light, providing considerable heritage and public benefit in enhancing the visual appreciation of the heritage building. A public through site link recreates the notion of laneway and access long lost in Sydney.
Designed in 1996 and completed in 2000, the A$120 million project was won in competition with JPW providing full professional services. |
