Laguna Village
The Whitsundays, Queensland
Australia |
The village is created to capture and celebrate the regions stunning beauty; rich and diverse environment and culture. It will become the major visitor centre for the Whitsundays, fostering a vibrant, powerful and sustainable community where there is synergy amongst all users.
Ecological sustainability is fundamental to the planning, design, construction and operation of the Laguna Village centre. It will be a pedestrian-only village in a parkland and coastal setting. No vehicles can enter the village other than bicycles and electric-powered golf carts, although there will be adjacent car-parking and coach access.
The Village comprises 70 buildings including hotels, retail, civic, commercial and residential accommodation. The project was won by JPW through a national design competition. |
