JPW was engaged by the South Australian Museum Foundation to develop a Masterplan for the Museum, focusing on improving visitor experience, providing additional exhibition space, and creating more opportunities for the institution to generate revenue.
The concept encloses the existing courtyard to form a new entrance foyer and legible circulation, addressing the Museum’s current and future needs whilst respecting the original fabric with a proposal to expand that is aligned with the original design for the Museum which had always envisioned a central courtyard building.

“JPW showed a comprehensive understanding of the brief and could cite previous projects where they had successfully implemented solutions relevant to the Museum’s requirements. The proposals were highly creative and an appropriate response to the brief. They showed great rigor in ensuring that practical issues about cost, planning and construction had also been addressed.” Brian Oldman, Director, South Australian Museum
