The Physics Lawn has a strong geometric and simple design and provides the physical setting for the Rupert Myers building within the overall University landscape. The design also provides a pleasant ‘local’ landscape in and around the building for the benefit of the building’s occupants.
A complex project, it required the integration of an overland flow path with several pedestrian and vehicular routes whilst remaining accessible. To allow for the overland flow path a low ‘ha‐ha’ wall was installed which, whilst it provides sufficient cross section for the hydraulic engineers’ requirements, is more or less invisible in the view to the main building from the approaches
