JPW | Westpac Place

Westpac Place

Wespac Place is located on the western edge of Sydney CBD and occupies a one hectare city block. JPW were selected as architects through a limited design competition conducted under the Sydney City Council Design Excellence guidelines. Responding to the large, complex and historic site, the design demonstrates the possibilities of a development to make a significant contribution to the public realm as well as satisfy commercial objectives. The project has created the largest new public landscape park in the CBD for more than a century.

“The planning of this development has been driven from the outset by a concern for urban design and sensitivity to the grain of the city. The secret to the success of this development lies in the initial planning concept that sought to provide public benefit, and understood the ingredients necessary for success. Westpac Place is a joy to be in, it has reinvigorated this part of town, and Sydney is the real winner here.”
