Wuzhong New City will be a modern innovative centre of excellence blending natural beauty with high technology in one of the most dynamic and energetic areas of China. Won in an international design competition, JPW’s design of a new city centre including four super high rise towers will define the central urban spine around which the city opens and which connects to Tai Hu, the second largest fresh water lake in China. The concept incorporates towers and podiums to form vertical villages or villages in the sky. The multi-layered city concept aims to integrate public spaces horizontally and vertically throughout large mixed use developments. Within taller towers there are opportunities to provide semi-public spaces at higher levels for recreation activities and as observation lounges.
